kernel-2.6.9-67.0.20.0.2.EL*1で Oracle's ELでのみ変更が入ってた

- revert patch 12026 for rh bugz 435280 which results in orabug 7240271

は、kernel-2.6.9-67.0.22で含めたということのようです。

Oracle's ELのみの変更は kernel-2.6.9-67.0.20.0.1.EL*2に比べて増えてない、kernel-2.6.9-67.0.20.0.2.ELに比べて一つ減ったということになる。


RHEL4で kernel-2.6.9-78.EL(RHEL4.7の Kernel)にはできないとかで、特に kernel-2.6.9-67.0.20.ELを利用中とか検討してたという人には、お勧めということになるかな。
Oracle's ELは、まぁkernel-2.6.9-78.ELベースのカーネルはないし、kernel-2.6.9-67.0.20.0.2.ELにしよっかなって思ってた人には、今はこっちでしょうね。

まだ keral packaegsだけだけど、RHEL4.7候補 kernel 2008/07/09 (kernel-2.6.9-78.EL) - tmpfile::memoのとおりでした。

昨日の[RHSA-2008:0607-01] Important: kernel security and bug fix updateで kernel-2.6.9-67.0.22.ELが出たばかりだったけど、やっぱり beta testing period どおりで、その後二週間で公開したかという感じ。
これは今後はもう決まったパターンになるのだろうか。

Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Improved Through Enhanced Product Life Cycle

Updating the Enterprise Linux Life Cycleより、

Everyone,

as of today, the first phase of the life-cycle for every Red Hat
Enterprise Linux major release is being extended from three years to
four. During the first phase of the life cycle we provide support for
new hardware that is released by our partners, important new software
functionality, bug fixes and security patches.

このため

One immediate effect of the change is, that Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.7
will *NOT* be the last release in the Enterprise Linux 4 life cycle to
enable new hardware: 4.8 is planned for early 2009 and *will* contain
limited hardware enablement. After that we will enter the Production 2
phase and newly added 4.9 release will then be the final, bug-fix only
minor release marking the transition into Production 3.

とのこと。RHEL4.8が半年後、RHEL4.9が更にその半年後といった感じだろうか。
